Doorman Certification Course
Miðstöð símenntunar á Suðurnesjum offers doorman/bouncer certification course in collaboration with the Police at Reykjanes Peninsula
The course is well suited to working doormen/bouncers, those who aim to work as doormen/bouncers at restaurants, entertainment venues, hotels and those who work night shifts in any of these or other places.
A 3-year certificate will be awarded to those who complete the course and assessment requirements.
Subjects and emphasis:
Responsibilities and roles of doormen
- Narcotics – education
- Review of ID documentation
- Communication between doormen and police
- Laws for restaurants, entertainment venues and hotels
- Civil arrest
First aid for doormen
- Certificate from the Red Cross in Iceland
Fire defenses
- Course work
- Field trip

- Insurance at work
- Rights and obligations
Self-defense
- Self-Defense/Arrest
- Exercises
Arrangement:
Classes will take place at MSS premises in Krossmói on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 17:00 - 20/21:00.
Eligibility:
- Those who intend to work as doormen need the approval of the chief of police.
- Participants must have a clean criminal record.
Scholarships for course fees:
You can apply for tuition fee grants to union education funds. Members of The Labour Union and the Keflavik Seamen's Association may be entitled to up to 90% reimbursement of the course fee.
